Few years ago I read in a newspaper about how huge solar panels covering canals in Gujarat. That was quite amazing and I would like congratulate you and your team for implementing such an innovative project. So I am sure you understand the importance and value of solar energy. With this context, I would like to present the following idea.
Solar energy, as you know, is abundantly available in India and the amount of energy peaks during summer season. Also, solar energy usage is more effective if it is directly used where it is produced. And as we all know, summer means higher usage of Air Conditioners (ACs). ACs and solar energy appear to be good fit. AC usage peaks during summer day, solar energy production peaks during summer day. Solar panel produce Direct Current, ACs can work on DC power. If there is mechanism to make ACs run on solar power, it would save lot of electricity generated from conventional resources, which translates to lower pollution and enormous savings.
You have also mentioned in many of your speeches about how a farmer should devote 1/3rd of his efforts towards animal husbandry. To go with this, if efforts are made to promote bio-gas production at villages/ towns, it would generate more income to the farmers. Instead of asking people to build their own bio-gas plants, if the local government takes pro-active measures to develop larger scale bio-gas production, it would lead to more bio-gas production, in addition to income to farmers.
